Cube World

Cube World was a lonesome world. A world with just land and water. No wildlife, no plants, no life. Then one day, Wollay, a single man who wanted to shape this empty world into something great, started his work. He started out by creating a haven, he called Cube Garden. He then created a man. This man’s name was Hunk. Hunk didn’t have much depth to himself. He looked like a couple of building blocks pressed together. Wollay did not like his work on Hunk and decided to delve deeper into his creation, man. After days of painstaking work he created an advanced version of man, whom he called Brock. Brock had emotions, Brock knew who he was and who created him. He told Brock that he could live in Cube Garden in peace if he followed Wollay’s rules. Wollay next created a woman named Cecilia. Wollay told Brock that he and Cecilia must keep the human species thriving. Next Wollay created plants and animals. He told Brock he and Cecilia may use the plants and animals for whatever use they might prove. Wollay was starting to realize how much power he had in this… Cube World. He knew he needed to store his power somewhere and created the spirit cubes. He placed 1000 spirit cubes, all with different attributes, on a tree in Cube Garden. He called this tree the Spirit Tree. He told Brock, “Whatever you do do NOT touch the spirit cubes. There power is too much for mankind.” Brock understood what Wollay meant, but Cecilia did not. Cecilia pestered Brock over and over begging him to let her take one spirit cube off the tree. Brock insisted she must not. One day Cecilia snuck out and ran to the Spirit Tree. She slowly reached out and grabbed for a spirit cube. The first evil act in Cube World also brought with it Yallow, the opposite of Wollay. Yallow entered Cecilia’s mind and started torturing her. Torturing her and egging her on to do more naughty things that Wollay would not approve of. Wollay found out about Cecilia’s act of stealing a spirit cube after carefully examining the Spirit Tree. He came to her as mad as a buffalo being taunted with a red tunic, “Where is the spirit cube?!” he demanded. She would not give it up. He banished both, Brock and Cecilia out of Cube Garden, never to let anyone back in. He then split up all of the spirit cubes into tens weakening their power and spread all 10,000 spirit cubes across Cube World. He did this to help man in their survival and so he himself would not have access to all of that power. Wollay is still watching over Cube World to this day, adding new things to the evergrowing world. Yallow, however added evil things to Cube World, such as liches, trolls and skeletons. So began Cube World.

Cube World was nothing, no trees, no grass, no water, nothing. Nothing, until one day, Poseidon, came across this blank world and summoned water. Well now there was water in Cube World, but nothing else. Bare. So Gaia, the god of nature, saw this boring world that just had water on it, and decided to grow a few things here and there, now there was land, land that any new species in Cube World could step on and live their lives on. There still were no intelligent life forms in Cube World, until Wollay, took the initiative to create humans. Humans harvested plants and started to explore this voxel-based world of wonder. They we’re bored being the only intelligent species and asked Wollay, their God, to create some other life form they could interact with. So Wollay created elves. The elves and humans started hunting together, but couldn’t do so very well without pets so they asked Wollay to create some sort of companion that could travel with them. So Wollay did. Wollay created anything and everything the humans asked him to create and to this day is still adding on to Cube World.

Cube World looks to be a fantastic indie game made by single developer, Wollay. You can check out his blog, or his twitter, to keep up to date with the most recent news of Cube World. Wollay has been hard at work on this and I envy him for creating such a phenomenal game. This is the game I have been waiting for, for a long time. I’ve always wanted an RPG game that was voxel-based and I know there was Minecraft, but Minecraft just didn’t do the trick for me. Cube World WILL do the trick for me. The combat looks super smooth and all the game mechanics I have seen so far look amazing! Now I want to hear what you guys think of the game, so leave a comment on here!
